1. Make the right choice

2. Wash them separately
Bath towels don't require as much soap as clothes do, so wash them separately. Build-up of excess soap can dull their softness. Don't toss too many towels at once as they clump and tangle, creating unreached moisture patches that become scratchy after drying.
Limit the load and let the machine clean your towels properly.
3. Clean them naturally
Fabric softener is a no-no when it comes to having fluffier towels, they coat the fibres and reduce the absorbency of the towel. Use ingredients that are available at home. Vinegar can help wash away musty odours and baking soda can be used for towels with strong odours. (Don’t use both together)
4. Turn down the heat
Blasting towels with the highest temperature possible may damage the quality and they may never feel soft again. Wash and dry them on medium heat to eliminate bacteria while preserving the towels’ fibres. Pre-treat spot stains to ensure that your towels are cleaned without needing to put too much stress on the fibres.
5. Dry them up completely
To avoid the creasing of fabric fibres, make sure you dry your towels completely. Don't pile up damp towels on the floor, they may get mouldy and develop an unpleasant odour. Make sure they are completely dry before you fold them.
